In this two-part webinar series open to both CALU members and guests, Kevin Wark and Glenn Stephens will preview the contents of the newly updated “The Essential Canadian Guide to Income Splitting (2nd Ed)” (to be released in March) which covers the tax rules designed to prevent income splitting and describes the planning opportunities that continue to be available to assist your family and business clients reduce their overall tax bill.
Part 1 of this series takes place on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm ET and will review the various income attribution rules applicable to families, discuss recent tax changes relating to trust reporting and Alternative Minimum Tax that can also impact income splitting, and through case studies review the “Top 10” income splitting opportunities including the use of life insurance. Subject to approval by the governing bodies, you may receive up to 2.0 CE credits for Part 1 for live participation only. Advocis will be issuing the CE certificates for all governing bodies except those from the Chambre de la sécurité financière (CSF) which CALU will issue.
Part 2 of this series takes place on Thursday March 21, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm ET and will review the corporate attribution and TOSI rules and discuss their impact on common business planning arrangements including dividend strategies, estate freezes, intergenerational share transfers, buy-sell agreements and estate planning, as well as highlight other key planning considerations to maximize income splitting in a family business context. Subject to approval by the governing bodies, you may receive up to 2.0 CE credits for Part 2 for live participation only.
